Title
Early Medieval coin: sceat of Series G
Description
English: An early medieval silver sceat, early Secondary Phase, Series G (BMC Type 3a; North 43; c.710-720), possibly a contemporary imitation (see below), mint: probably Quentovic (France) for official issues.

The attribution here of the coin as a possible contemporary imitation lies in the identification made my Metcalf (1993, pages 266-274; Pl. 16 no. 273) of a coin stylistically different to the main group of Series G coins, lacking the cross on the obverse) and with a silver content of only 45%, low for this part of the Secondary Phase. The coin recorded here looks a likely a die duplicate to Metcalf no. 273.
