Title
Early Medieval buckle
Description
English: A small copper-alloy D-shaped buckle frame. The outer edge is oval in cross-section and chunky, with devolved animal heads at each end of the bar (beast biting bar type). The bar is narrower than the frame. The pin is missing. It has a length of 19.13mm, width 15.75mm, thickness 6.39mm, weight 7.32g.

For reference see DENO-8E90B8, and Meols page 72 number 313. This type is thought from finds at Winchester and Norwich to be 11th or 12th century in date (Hinton in Biddle 1990, no. 1110; Margeson 1993, no. 127).
