Early Medieval ansate brooch
Description
English: An incomplete Early Medieval ansate brooch dating to circa AD 800-1000. The extant element consists of the catchplate end. The front face has a trefoil leaf-shaped terminal with elongated central lobe.Two longitudinal ridges run down the flanks of the front face. Its edges are rounded. The reverse is plain and contains a now broken hooked catchplate. 

The brooch is consistent with Weetch's Type XII.Aii East Harling form, noted to date from between the 9th to 10th centuries AD (Weetch 2014: 169-170). 

Length: 18.6mm; Width: 6.6mm; Thickness: 2.5mm; Weight: 1.32g.
