Title
Early Medieval ansate brooch.
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy ansate brooch of the 8th century.

The brooch has sub-square terminals, and the entire brooch is decorated with a banded effect such that the bow and centre of each terminal consists of a central band, with an outer band to each side on each terminal and at the peak of the bow. This means the bow has a square element at its peak. The outer edges of the terminals are gently curved, adding further decorative enhancement.

The underside of one terminal contains two lugs and the corroded remains of an iron pin. A simple projecting hook forms the catch on the underside of the opposite terminal.
