Title
Early Medieval Strap end
Description
English: An incomplete Early Medieval copper alloy strap end of Class B, type 2, dating from c.750-1100 AD. The strap end is triangular in shape, with the circular attachment holes at the wider end, one of which is now broken. The face of the strap end is decorated with incised lines; a border runs around the edge of the strap end with cross hatching inside. At the attachment end there is incised curvilinear lines, it is unclear what this depicts. The terminal end is rounded, and very worn. There is no decoration on the reverse. The strap end has a light green patina, with patches of red brown staining. The strap end measures 45.7mm in length, 7.6mm in width, and 3.6mm in thickness. It weighs 5.34g.

A similar strap end with a zoomorphic terminal can be seen in Thomas 2003, page 5.
