English: Pottery

Body Sherd. Early Anglo-Saxon fabric (ESAXX) whose main tempering is chalk, with rare crystalline calcite; a hand made vessel. A circumferential line appears on the outer surface. This sherd was kindly identified by Wallace Collyer of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 450-600. Weight: 5.12gms.
