Description
English: An incomplete silver Early Medieval circumscription cross penny of Aethelstan (924-939 AD). The letters in the legends on both the obverse and reverse are oriented in a combination of retrograde, backwards and right-side-up and right-side-up (see below).

Obverse: EDELSTA[...]

Reverse: [...]RTALVII[...]

For obverse: EDEL(retrograde), S(backwards), TA (right-side-up)

For reverse: R(retrograde), TA(right-side-up), L (right-side-up, but backwards), A I I (retrograde)
