Description |
English: Fragment of Early Saxon gilt copper alloy Great square-headed brooch, an incomplete footplate with both side lobes, the terminal lobe and parts of the edges missing. The inner panel and upper borders are decorated with Style I ornament, and the former with a small round boss. The lower borders are stamped with annulets. There is an incomplete catchplate on the reverse. Hines 1997, Group III. All breaks are ancient. Extant length and width 36 and 25mm. c.520 - c.550. |
