Early Medieval Class B Type 1 Hooked Tag
Description
English: A copper alloy early-medieval (AD c.700-c.1100) hooked tag. The hooked tag falls into Read's Class B, Type 1: Triangular/sub-triangular single sharp-hooked clasps. A similar hooked tag can be found in Read, 2008, Hooked-Clasps & Eyes, p.21, no.94. Overall, it measures 20.2mm long, 7.2mm wide and 3.8mm thick (the metal's thickness is 0.9mm). It weighs 0.48g. The decoration is engraved and moulded-relief and takes the form of a projecting shallow ridged angular collar midway, a rounded knop either end of the attachement end (one is missing), and an engraved linear border around the attachment end.
