Title |
Early Medieval Buckle |
||
Description |
English: Copper alloy
Buckle. Cast single looped D shaped buckle with narrowed and slightly offset pin bar. The terminals of the pin bar are thickened within the frame, relating this to the terminals of zoomorphic buckles of Anglo-Scandinavian style, which was persistent in local material culture. The thickened frame opposite the pin bar also comes from the same tradition. Heavily abraded. Suggested date: Early Medieval to Medieval, 1000-1100. Length: 14.1mm, Height: 22.4mm, Thickness: 4.3mm, Weight: 2.52gms. |
