Early Medieval Ansate Brooch
Description
English: Middle Saxon cast copper alloy Ansate brooch, sub-triangular terminals with engraved lines bordering both sides and a central ring-and-dot. D-sectioned bow miscast with the underside of the bow infilled and unfettled. Reverse with twin perforated lugs (one broken) with iron corrosion, pin missing, flat-sectioned catch-plate, most of curled-over end missing. Length 42mm. Width 14mm. Weighs 6.30g. See Hübener Gruppe 4 (1972, Abb. 8, nos.1-7) and Thörles Gruppe III A. c.560/70-c.630/40.
