The Arnold steam sterilizing apparatus (see figure)consists of a water reservoir (A), a sterilizing chamber (B),a bottle rack (C), a cover (D), a hood (E), eight graduatedbottles (F), each holding a little over seven ounces, and abrush (G). As soon as the bottles are stoppered they are placed inthe bottle rack, which is then inserted in the sterilizingchamber, and the lid and hood are applied. The pan of thesterilizer is filled two-thirds full with water and the wholeapparatus is placed on the hot stove for an hour. A home-sterilizer may be improvised out of a tin pailor can.
