Title
Early Bronze Age: Complete plano-convex (slug) knife
Description
English: A complete flint plano-convex knife of Early Bronze Age dating (c. 2350 BC to c. 1400 BC).

The knife is of a sub pointed oval shape, with a flattened end. It has a D shaped cross sction.
It is a dark brown colour, with minimal surface patination. Remains of the cortex (outer rind) is present on the dorsal surface and is an off white colour. It has been made from a piece of secondary debitage.
Retouch is present along both edges on the dorsal surface. A probable shouldered notch is present at the top of the knife, with retouch on the ventral side. The retouch can be classified as: Long / Sub parallel / Low angle.

Plano-convex knives, such as this example, tend to be of Early Bronze Age dating. Similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database including: HESH-BD97A2; SWYOR-B645D2; SUR-E41676. These knives are often referred to as ' 'slug knives' in that they are shaped broadly like large slugs.
