Title
Early 17th century toy musket or pistol.
Description
English: Post Medieval cast copper alloy toy musket (gun). Cast in one piece with unevenly faceted barrel and angular trigger guard with a small break. The barrel is oval with a pronounced muzzle, the hollow barrel would have been loaded with gun powder and shot to be used in play. The vent is small with a square shaped wedge to the right of the pan, which may have been for a match or wick. The butt end is shaped like a fish tale and is slightly damaged. The metal is very corroded but some of the original surface remains, with possible green paint or enamel visible around the stock.
