Title
Early-medieval tweezers
Description
English: A complete set of copper-alloy tweezers, probably dating from the 5th to 8th century AD.

The arms are slender in appearance, expanding in width gradually towards the terminals. One of these terminals is bent inwards slightly. The undecorated surfaces show evidence of having been filed. At the top, the arms converge to a point where they are almost touching, creating a loop. Attached via this loop is a ring of copper-alloy wire the terminals of which are looped together. Also attached to this ring, via a loop, is a short length of flattened wire. This wire may have served as a means of attachment, or it may be part of another toilet implement.

The artefact measures 76mm long, 19.6mm wide (the ring) and up to 8.8mm thick. The weight is 4.71g.
