Title |
Early-medieval single-looped buckle (possibly) |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper-alloy single-looped buckle possibly of early-medieval date, although a later, medieval date cannot be ruled out entirely. The loop is oval, with no evidence of the narrowing and recessing of the pin bar that you tend to see in the later buckles. The outer edge is thickened. At one end of the pin bar the remains of the iron pin survive corroded in place, with further orange-brown corrosion product at the centre of the outer edge.. The frame has corroded to a variable mid-green colour. |
