Title
Early-medieval mount
Description
English: Cast copper-alloy mount, Urnes style decoration, c. 11th century. Mass: 32.2; width: 37.7mm; length: 21.2mm; depth: 20.3mm. The mount has a U-shaped cross section with a circular perforation in the top. The exterior is decorated with three interlaced animals in high relief within a raised border. The animals have ring and dot eyes, open mouths, and one appears to have a wing folded on its back, decorated with incided grooves. The bottom edges of the mount are straight but the sides are notched and grooved. The mount is plausibly from a sword pommel.
