Title
Early-medieval brooch: Equal-armed brooch
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy small equal-armed brooch, dating to the early-medieval (Anglo-Saxon) period. The surviving element comprises just under half of the original brooch, the foot and a fragment of the arched bow. The reverse of the brooch retains a lug, possibly the pin lug rather than part of the catchplate. The brooch is decorated with raised mouldings that form an opework latin-style cross with rounded foot and two rounded knops above the arms; the surviving part of the bow has linear mouldings. This brooch dates from the 6th century AD.
