Early-medieval (Anglo-Saxon) Small-long brooch (incomplete) |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete copper-alloy Small-long brooch of 6th century (Early-medieval) date.
The head plate is sub-rectangular in plan and undecorated. The bow comprises a short, high-arched segment with a small decorative cut-out on each 'corner'. The foot section is missing. On the reverse, the hinge is located at the base of the head. It comprises a single perforated lug with a damaged top edge. There is attached iron corrosion, presumably from the missing pin. The brooch measures 34.7mm high, 22.5mm wide and 12.3mm deep. The weight is 7.93g. |
