Early-Middle Early Medieval Buckle Pin or Tongue
Description
English: An Early-Middle Saxon incomplete buckle pin (or tongue) with the broken remains of an integral anchorage on the reverse. It is flat-sectioned, with the base or proximal end broken across opposed concave sides. The remainder is D-sectioned and there is a constriction at the mid-point. It has a blunt, broken distal end. It measures >36 x >14mm. See Marzinzik 2003, plates 4-6. It is of a standard type dated to the 6th or 7th centuries.
