Description
English: IOW2012-4-352

An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) buckle frame (c. AD 450-600). The bar and pin are missing. The frame is 'D'-shaped in plan and oval in cross-section but is slightly flatter on the underside. There are stubs of iron at each break as well as iron staining around the breaks and also on the upper face of the outer edge. This buckle is corroded and in poor condition.

A shield-shaped plate with a small portion of the shaft. The upper surface and the sides are tinned. On the underside there is a stub of an iron loop.
This pin is corroded and in poor condition. The break on the shaft is recent.
21.64 x 16.91 x 7.22mm. Weight: 6.98g.

It has traces of tinning on the upper face, the sides and the underside of the plate. There is also tinning on the shaft.
This pin is corroded and in poor condition and may have been burnt.
