Description

Elder Erick L. Bradshaw, Sr., is the Founder and Pastor of Fresh Start Christian Center located in Anderson, South Carolina. A native of Lee County, South Carolina, Elder Erick L. Bradshaw, Sr., is not your ordinary preacher. Innovative, cutting edge, creative and spirit-filled, is just a few words that describe his unorthodox approach to ministry. He received the Lord Jesus Christ into his life November 10th, 1996; was called to preach a few months later; and was confirmed into the ministry through the laying on of hands by Apostle Tommy E. Quick.

His dedication to Kingdom Building and passion to serve God's people transcends traditionalism, new age and protocol. Elder Bradshaw served faithfully under the leadership of Apostle Tommy E. Quick for over 10 years. It was through his faithful service under the tutelage of his spiritual father; that God molded, developed, equipped and fashioned him into the man of God that he has become.

A firm believer in education, Elder Bradshaw received is Associates of Arts Degree from Spartanburg Methodist College and his Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology from the University of South Carolina and a Masters of Arts Degree in Christian Education from the University of South Carolina. Most recently, Elder Bradshaw received a Doctorate Degree from the North Carolina College of Theology in Carolina Beach, N.C. As a gifted writer and social scholar, Elder Bradshaw founded the Institute for Social Development and Research to combat social issues with sound Bible truths. His findings have been presented and published in University Research Symposiums and he has contributed numerous writings in the South Carolina Black Newspaper.

The driving pulse of his mission is to liberate the people of God. As a contemporary Nehemiah, he has resolved not to come down from the "wall of ministry," until believers are living representations of God's kingdom on earth.

A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PRESPECTIVE

Dr. Erick L. Bradshaw, Sr., is the founder and Executive Director of Fresh Start Community Development Corporation (A non-profit 501c3 Community Development Organization) located in Anderson, South Carolina. His experience working with youth from various ages and socioeconomic status impressed upon him the need to engage community partners from faith-based, social, political and educational arenas to come together to address the problems that youth are challenged with daily. Through a partnership with the University of South Carolina, Erick co-founded the Institute of Social Research and Development, an organization established to assist non-profits in preparing funding proposal based on verifiable statistical data for the purpose of securing foundation grants. Erick’s findings were presented in the first ever “Research and Development Symposium”, held by the University of South Carolina.

His volunteer work includes: Counselor for Project R.E.A.C.H (Repairing Emotional, Academic & Childcare Health), Volunteer Director of the Morningside Community Development Association, Program Director for S.C.O.R.E. (Students Centered on Reaching Excellence), President of the Anderson Youth Economic Council and he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Anderson Sunshine House. Recently, Fresh Start CDC has been awarded a grant from the National Council of Economic Education, to provide “Mini-Society” training for 25 elementary and after-school teachers. In the Mini-Society Program, students develop a self-organizing economic society with the consultative guidance of the teacher, driven by the need to resolve a classroom situation involving the fundamental economic issues of scarcity and allocation of resources. The children begin to identify opportunities in their environment and initiate entrepreneurship ventures to provide goods and services to their fellow citizens. As the system swings into action, the spontaneous entrepreneurship, consumer, and social experiences and interactions of the students are woven into an instructional fabric that emphasizes learning in economics and the social sciences. The knowledge and skills acquired through Mini-Society also incorporate and complement other thematic curricula and pedagogues including language arts, math, government and law, ethics, and cooperative learning.
