Description
Deutsch: Werksbild der Società Italiana Westinghouse in Vado Ligure. Von der Via Natale Gallino 17 ca. 800 m nördlich des Bahnhofs Genua Pontedecimo aufgenommen, Blick Richtung Nordosten (NE). Güterzug mit zwei FS E.550 auf Talfahrt, je eine vorne und hinten am Zug. Zuggewicht ca. 380 t, Geschwindigkeit 50 km/h. Die Strecke über den Giovi-Pass, die den Hafen von Genua mit den Industriemetropolen Norditaliens verbindet, wurde 1910 mit 3,6 kV 16 2/3 Hz Drehstrom elektrifiziert. Die Drehstromtechnik hatte für die Gebirgsbahn den Vorteil, dass eine elektrische Nutzbremse leicht zu realisieren war.
