||
Description |
English: Roman cast copper alloy elaborate type of 2nd-3rd century buckle tongue of the fleur-de-lys style with parallels known from Hod Hill (Brailsford 1962, 33, no. A81), Usk (Manning 1989, 60).
It is formed of a central bar with square cross section. There is a circular loop at one end and the opposing end narrows in thickness before a worn break. It is 35.60mm long, 3.85mm wide, 4.28mm thick decreasing to 2.06mm thick at the broken terminal. The curved projections are 9.25mm long, 3.72mm wide, 2.52mm thick. The loop has an external diameter of 5.71mm and an internal diameter of 2.22mm. It weighs 5.07 grams. |
