ESS-1022B1 medieval ring brooch
Description
English: Medieval ring brooch fragment, dating 1250-1400AD. Cast in copper alloy the fragment has a "turreted" setting which contains a white powdery substance which could be white paste, or could have been used for the base of a glass pellet. The pannel to the side of the setting is decorated with rows of incised dots. The fragment weighs 2.5 grams, is 20.89mm long, 10.21mm wide, and 3.6mm thick increasing to 7.40mm for the setting. The surface has a dull dark green-black patina. The breaks are old and worn.
