Description
Deutsch: Mit einer Höhe von 98 m ist die Esse des einstigen Heizkraftwerks im Palmental das höchste Gebäude der Wartburgstadt. Der Schornstein wurde vom Bau- und Montagekombinat (BMK) Erfurt für das angrenzende Wohngebiet Petersberg, das Wohngebiet Palmental, den Eisenacher Schlachthof und als Auftraggeber der VEB Schaltgerätewerk Eisenach errichtet und im Oktober 1987 fertiggestellt. Nach der Wende erfolgte bereits die Aufgabe des Heizwerkes, es wurde eine dezentrale Lösung geschaffen. Nun ist das weitere Schicksal des Riesen ungewiss, da die am Hörselufer gelegene Fläche wegen Hochwasserschutz nicht bebaubar ist.
