--Senior Chief Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician (EWS) Jonathan C. Bates, a master explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) technician from Kennewick, Wash., explains to Uruguayan EOD army officers different grabbing techniques they can employ while using the ANDROS EOD robot to improve it's mechanically grip, Nov. 12, 2010. Bates and other master EOD technicians taught Uruguayan forces basic explosives detection, removal and detonation during a three-week training mission coordinated by the Maritime Civil Affairs and Security Training Command (MCAST). MCAST delivers teams of highly skilled Sailors to partner nations to share their experience and strengthen international relationships as an integral part of the Navy's maritime strategy.
