中文（臺灣）：隨著觀光號逐漸老舊，臺鐵管理局在民國59（1970）年以莒光號接替，繼之在民國67（1978）年又引進自強號，營運至今的自強號是目前臺鐵局裡等級最高、收費最高、速度最快的對號列車。
自強號有電氣化、非電氣化數種車型，民國67（1978）年率先上路的第一代自強號是英國製EMU100電聯車，車頭圓弧造型和棕色系外觀，風格有別於之前的高級列車，也是停駛前舊山線一道美麗的風景。自強號無餐車，但在1970年代末至1980年代，自強號的服務人員會在車廂內為乘客提供茶水、餐點和報紙等服務，但比起早年「飛快車小姐」、「觀光號小姐」盛極一時的響亮名氣，自強號的列車小姐似乎就不那麼有名了。 |
