Description A U.S. Navy Douglas EA-1E Skyraider (BuNo 139562) from Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron VAW-33 Det.39 Night Hawks hitting the barrier after missing the arresting wires aboard the last straight deck carrier in the U.S. Navy, USS Lake Champlain (CVS-39). VAW-33 Det.39 was assigned to Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 54 (CVSG-54) aboard the Champ for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 8 October to 25 November 1964.
