Description
English: Medieval papal bulla. Roughly circular lead disc. The obverse has a beaded border and reads INNO/CENTIVS/PP.IIII (with an omega above the PP), for Pope Innocent IIII, pope from 1243-1254. The reverse reads SPA-SPE (for St Paul and St Peter) and shows two bearded males heads, half facing, within beaded tear-drop shapes, with a cross between them. Incisions for inserting the strap to attach the bulla to the papal document show on the reverse. Diameter 37.64mm-40.84mm, thickness c.4.5mm, weight 39.27g.
