Summary
[edit]DescriptionE. M. Backus Lodge Canaan Land.jpg |
English: This is a photo showing the E. M. Backus Lodge (also known as Canaan Land), located near Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. Constructed in 1903, the lodge is one of only a few surviving examples of American Chestnut log construction in North Carolina, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The lodge and surrounding property is presently operated as the Canaan Land Christian Retreat, which hosts Baptist and Bible Church groups between mid-May and mid-October.
