Description Three U.S. Navy aircraft in flight in the mid-1960s (l-r): A Grumman E-1B Tracer (BuNo 137232) from Airborne Early Warning Squadron VAW-11 Early Eleven; a Vought RF-8A Crusader (BuNo 145615) from Light Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron VFP-63 Det.B Eyes of the Fleet, Attack Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5), from USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14); a Douglas EA-1E Skyraider from VAW-11. VAW-11 operated detachments from all Pacific Fleet carriers, in the mid-1960s the E-1B was operated from the attack carriers and the EA-1E from the anti-submarine carriers until replaced by the Tracer. Note that the RF-8A has raised its wing and dropped its flaps to be able to fly as slow as the props.
