Description
Deutsch: Luise Duttenhofer / Holzschnitt: Johann Wilhelm Gottlieb Pfnor: Verklärung Müllers (1821), schwarzer Scherenschnitt, Eingangsvignette für das Gedicht „Verklärung Müllers“ aus dem Gedichtband „Lautentöne“ von Christian Gottlob Vischer (Vischer 1821, Seite 101).

Das Gedicht verherrlicht den Kupferstecher Johann Friedrich Müller (1782-1816), den ältesten Sohn des Stuttgarter Kupferstechers Johann Gotthard Müller (1747-1830). Als sein Hauptwerk gilt die Sixtinische Madonna nach Raffael. Mit 32 Jahren erhielt er den Ruf als Professor der Kupferstecherkunst nach Dresden, starb aber bereits 1816, erst 34jährig, in Pirna/Sachsen.

Der gekrönte Künstler thront in den Wolken des Olymp, umringt von lobpreisenden Engelsköpfchen (geflügelte Putten ohne Leib) und einem auf Wolken schwebenden Engel, der sich niederknieend vor dem Meister verbeugt.
