Description
English: A storm system that brought rain to Iran in mid-January, 2015 also kicked up winds � and dust � over Oman. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA�s Terra satellite captured this true-color image on January 20 as it flew over the region. Northwesterly winds passing over Oman lofted dust and sand into the air and over the Arabian Sea. Broad plumes of bright tan dust blow to the southeast on these winds; in some cases they are so thick they obscure the Sea from view. In addition, a fine, dusty haze hangs over the waters to the southeast of Oman, seeming to blend with the offshore bank of clouds. To the southeast of the cloud bank, the skies appear crystal clear.
