Description
English: Cattedrale Santa Maria Matricolare. Madona del Popolo chapel. The arc of triumph red marble, dates from 1510. It is the only remnant of the original chapel renaissance. The chapel has always been a place of great popular devotion. The altar and the altarpiece was redone in baroque style in 1756. Under the statue of the Virgin and Child, Vincenzo Cadorin (1921), there is an urn containing the so-called "spine" with which the saints martys Verona Fermo and Rustico were killed.
Français : Cathédrale Santa Maria Matricolare de Vérone. La chapelle de la Madona del Popolo. L'arc de triomphe externe en marbre roug,e date de 1510. C'est le seul vestige de la chapelle renaissance initiale. La chapelle, a toujours été un lieu de grande dévotion populaire. L'autel et le retable ont été refait en style baroque en 1756. Sous la statue de la Vierge et l'Enfant, de Vincenzo Cadorin (1921), il y a une urne contenant la soi-disant «Epine» avec laquelle les saints martys de Vérone Fermo et Rustico auraient été tués.
Italiano: Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare di Verona. Capella della Madonna del Popolo. Arco trionfale esterno del 1510, unico resto della primitiva cappella rinascimentale, da sempre luogo di grande devozione popolare. L’interno venne trasformato secondo gusto barocco nel 1756. Sotto la statua della Madonna col Bambino, di Vincenzo Cadorin (1921) c’è un’urna contenente la cosiddetta “spina” con cui sarebbero stati uccisi i Santi Fermo e Rustico, martiri della Chiesa veronese.
