Title
English: Chapel of Our Lady of Miracles
Français : Chapelle de Notre-Dame des miracles
Italiano: Cappella delle Madonna dei Miracoli
Description
English: On the left side of the chapel is the sepulchral Gothic monument of Cardinal Francesco Zabarella (1360-1417), bishop of Florence and professor of canon law at the University of Padua. The monument is completed at the top by an ogival archosolium surmounted by five statues with the Madonna and Child and four saints, perhaps of Rinaldino da Francia (1397) and decorated with frescoes, with the Annunciation. Under the arcosolium, a canvas depicting the Crucifixion of Luca Ferrari of Reggio. In the apse of the transept, a large baroque altar that supports the image of the Madonna and Child in tempera, an ancient tradition that it is owned by Petrarca and that he himself considered painted by Giotto and given to Francesco il Vecchio da Carrara. Former property of Antonia Zabarella, it would have been given by itself to the cathedral. Nowadays the painting is considered as a work executed at different times and by different artists: the Byzantine Virgin and Child may have been executed by a Venetian of the thirteenth century and the architectural context is attributed to an artist of the turn of the century. 14th century.

14 ° secolo.
