English: Up Christmas Relief express at Dunford Bridge. View westward, towards the (old) Woodhead Tunnel and Manchester: ex-GC Sheffield Victoria - Manchester main line in the early stages of its modernization. Headed by Thompson B1 4-6-0 No. 61159 (built 5/47, withdrawn 9/63). (The express is passing the 'offices' from which Andrew Sharman was supervising the construction of the New Woodhead Tunnel, on behalf of the Consulting Engineers, Sir W. Halcrow & partners). |
