Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Dunford Bridge railway stations (sites)
The first Dunford Bridge station (1845-1953) was at the exit from the original Woodhead tunnel, located just below the photographer. The left-hand edge of the road is where the Sheffield-bound platform was, the Manchester-bound platform was roughly in line with the right-hand edge of the road. When the new Woodhead tunnel opened, the line was shifted over to the right, to just in front of the retaining wall. The two short platforms of the replacement station (1953-1970) were roughly where the pale-green pre-fabs in the distance are located.
