Summary
[edit]DescriptionDunes, Porth Trecastell - geograph.org.uk - 425483.jpg |
English: Dunes, Porth Trecastell. Increasing numbers of tourists at this beautiful bay have meant that the dunes here are suffering erosion. Conservation measures are in place, including the "planting" of old Christmas trees to create a base for sand to build and grass to grow. Signs in the car park state that the bay has been consistently good for surfing for the past 30 years, but the erosion has caused a marked deterioration in wave quality. The conservation measures should remedy this. However, disappointingly, some people have been digging up the old trees to burn on beach fires. The signs ask people to avoid walking on the dunes and keep to the marked footpaths, and also say that there are adders in the dunes. See also 425492. |
