Summary

[edit]
Description
English: On the right Swiss teacher Rudolf Aeschlimann (1884–1961; looking to the camera) with students from the progressive boarding-school Schule am Meer on the East Frisian island of Juist. In the center of the picture, in the background, you can see a slightly fortified, but makeshift shelter as a place of retreat, built by the students on the dune. In front of it a lot of grass sods are piled up. Their planting stabilized the dunes from being blown away, a measure to protect the dunes. The pupil, moving in a hurry towards the musicians in the back left, is apparently holding a string bow in his hand that he had either forgotten or the strings had broken so that he had to fetch it from the boarding school.
