English: Duck flighting pond at Caegoody This is a relatively new pond built into a natural hollow. Used for duck flighting. ( This information from Henry Cureton - thanks Henry ) The process of wild fowl flighting is to create environments that will encourage birds to visit a pond to feed and/or roost. They can then be hunted or watched depending on the objective of the ponds creator. There are often "doughnut" shaped ponds in upland areas that were/are shot as grouse moors, there is a beautiful example of this on the Berwyn Mountains near Llangollen. 649659 |
