Transcript InfoField | Dublin Castle has been the city residence of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland ever since Queen Elizabeth's time. It is situated at the west end of Dame Street, and is a somewhat motley collection of buildings, only retaining one tower of teh four-towered castle built by King John over the river Poddle. The Chapel is modern (1814), being built on the site of the old Castle Chapel, and is one of the few Gothic buildings in Dublin. |
