English: Dubhe (Alpha Ursae Majoris) is a spectroscopic binary 123 ly away in the constellation of Ursa Major - The primary is a K0III pale orange giant star past its main sequence - It is 316 times brighter than our sun but it is cooler - The secondary is a F0V white main-sequence star - The pair is split by 23 AU and orbits every 45 years -
