Title
Dry Creek Railway Station Overbridge
Description

The Dry Creek Railway Line, originally opened in the 1850s, became very busy with the opening of the Government's abbatoirs in 1913 and the Marine Board's new explosive storage facility at Dry Creek in 1914. The Dry Creek Station was essential to the workings of both. Large stockyards were adjacent. The overbridge was approved for construction in late 1914 (Advertiser, 15 December 1914, p8). The Abbatoirs station next along the line served the meatworkers who moved into the area.
