Description
Dansk: Illustration af Poul Steffensen til Carit Etlars roman Dronningens Vagtmester, der foregår under den Anden Karl Gustav-krig i 1658-1660. Romanen ender med at gøngehøvdingen Svend Poulsen er ensom og indesluttet. Hans kæreste Karen Kaas er blevet gift med Holger Rud mod sin vilje, og andre høster fordelene af hans kampe, mens han selv er glemt. Hans eneste glæde er svogeren Ib Abelsøn og Ingers lykke. Det fremgår ikke af teksten, men de to er tilsyneladende blevet gift og har fået et barn. Svend Poulsen (ca. 1610 - ca. 1679, til højre) var en virkelig person, men historien er fiktion. Svend Poulsens udseende er også fantasi, for der kendes ingen portrætter af ham.
English: Illustration by Poul Steffensen from the Danish novel Dronningens Vagtmester by Carit Etlar which takes place during the Dano-Swedish War in 1658-1660. The novel end with Svend Poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, becoming lonely and withdrawn. His girlfriend Karen Kaas has married Holger Rud against her will and other takes advantages of his fight while he himself has been forgotten. His only happiness is the luck of his brother-in-law Ib Abelsøn and Inger. The text doesn't tells but the two of has apparently been married and gotten a child. Svend Poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679, at the right) was a real person but the story is fiction. The look of Svend Poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him.
