Description
Dansk: Illustration af Poul Steffensen til Carit Etlars roman Dronningens Vagtmester, der foregår under den Anden Karl Gustav-krig i 1658-1660. Hønsedrengen Palle har fortalt gøngehøvdingen Svend Poulsen, hvordan Ib Abelsøn er blevet fanget af de svenske soldater på Gjorslev Slot. Svend Poulsen og hans gønger, der selv er forklædte som svenske soldater, tager derhen for at befri ham. Den tyske kaptajn Esner i svensk tjeneste tror, at de virkelig er soldater, og lader dem komme indenfor. Han fører dem ind til fælles aftensmad i spisesalen, og den svenske trompeter blæser en march, mens de andre går ind. Svend Poulsen (ca. 1610 - ca. 1679, i midten) var en virkelig person, men historien er fiktion. Svend Poulsens udseende er også fantasi, for der kendes ingen portrætter af ham.
English: Illustration by Poul Steffensen from the Danish novel Dronningens Vagtmester by Carit Etlar which takes place during the Dano-Swedish War in 1658-1660. The chicken boy Palle has told Svend Poulsen, Gøngegøvdingen, how Ib Abelsøn has been captured by the Swedish soldiers at the Gjorslev Castle. Svend Poulsen and his gønger who are disguised as Swedish soldier themselve then goes there to free him. The German captain Esner in Swedish service believes that they are real soldiers and let them come in. He leads them to a common supper in the dining hall and the Swedish trumpeter blows a march while the others walks inside. Svend Poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679, in the middle) was a real person but the story is fiction. The look of Svend Poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him.
