St. Peter's Church (Church of Ireland), Peter's Hill, Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland


English: Monument in memory of Ellis Walker, principal of Drogheda Grammar School in 1687–94. (See Christine Casey and Alistair Rowan, North Leinster, pp. 237–238.) This monument is located at the eastern end of the south gallery and belongs to the few monuments salvaged from old St. Peter's. Inscription:

Studijis inſtituendae feliciter impendens.

Quote: “Son of Oswald Walker of Yorkshire, he entered T.C.D. in 1677 aged sixteen. He graduated B.A. in 1682 and obtained the curacy (‘assistant outside the city’) of Templenoe, Co. Derry.”
