| Description |
Deutsch: Bosnische Ostbahn, Drina Defile vor Visegrad. Heute im Stausee versunken English: The gorge of the Drina River as seen in this upstream view towards Međeđa. The image was taken from a train running from Višegrad towards Sarajevo, and in this moment approaching the railway junction Most na Drini (Bridge on Drina). The railway bridge on the Drina River at the mouth of the Lim River can be seen in the background. After closing the Bosnian Eastern Railway in the late seventies and dismantling it in the following years, a hydroelectric power plant near Višegrad was built and put in operation in 1989. The old road bridge at the mouth of the Lim River was destroyed, and its remains together with the railway bridge, railway bed and associated infrastructure were all soon submerged by the reservoir. |
