English: Dress, woman's, consisting of three pieces (bodice, double skirt, plus matching underskirt.), dark and light slate grey taffeta trimmed with light grey pleating, corded buttons; short bodice with hanging decoration at back; double skirt- overskirt of panier type; heavy silk grosgrain underskirt “SILK DRESS in saxe blue and pale blue tafeta (sic). Four pieces – bodice- skirt- overskirt- underskirt (latter unpicked). Garment in two shades with self trimming. Bodice lined in book-muslin and lightly boned at waist – very short bodice front fastening with buttons. Back finished in swallow tails. Skirt in seven panels – deep pleats at waist and gathered centre-back, small train. This skirt is semi-bustle – bottom trimmed with pleated and gathered bands. Overskirt to augment bustle-effect, hooked and tied with front sash trimmed as for skirt.”
