English: Woman's one piece dress in plum-coloured shot silk taffeta, with ruched bishop sleeves trimmed in long rows of black lace. Plum silk taffeta with black lace bands longitudinally on the sleeves; pointed waist, front fastened with black velvet buttons; closely gathered skirt with back fullness; skirt gathered at front and gauged at back; lined with book muslin Belonged to Mrs A. Rodrigues who was born in Madeira in 1830 and who after her marriage went to England with her husband and child where she stayed for a few months before coming to New Zealand on the sailing ship "Westminster", settled in Akaroa where she died in 1903. (Period of dress about 1880)
